However, this won’t be left up to the world’s critics, instead, it will be up to readers to have their say to help create the ultimate list of cinematic greats. Whether it’s a critically acclaimed gem, an overlooked classic, or a remake that never saw a wide release, anything can be nominated.
Powered by AHEDA, the Australian Home Entertainment Distributors Association, voting for the next list starts on October 19 and runs until October 30, with readers able to vote for three films they consider to be the best of all time and a bonus “wildcard” movie.
The wildcard option allows readers to share their ultimate guilty pleasure movie that wouldn’t normally make such a list. Vote for your favorite wildcard movie, along with 25 words or less about why you chose that particular movie, and you’re in the running for a chance to win a Sony 65-inch 4K TV and 4K UHD Blu-ray player worth 2000 dollars.
The full countdown starts on November 2nd, so take a look back on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD or VHS, think back to those big movie moments and pick out some of the best movies of all time when it starts voting on October 19. We combined the movie ratings from Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes and then added IMDb user scores to come up with the ultimate top 100 list.

Taking place in October, Rolling Stone Australia’s Readers’ Poll gave its community of movie lovers the chance to help curate a list of the best movies, whether they’re some of the most iconic films to ever grace the screen. at the Academy Awards. or a film so overlooked and forgotten that the nominated reader would be surprised if anyone else had seen it.
Rolling Stone Australia partnered with the Australian Home Entertainment Distributors Association (AHEDA) to promote the 100 Greatest Movies of All Time Poll.
Using the slogan “Never lose access to your favorite movies”, the campaign encouraged readers to look back at their 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD or VHS collections and think back to those important movie moments and to choose some of the greatest films of all time.
Rolling Stone Australia built a dedicated online voting center and promoted the Poll through various channels of its parent company The Brag Media.

Epic Digital were also part of the Survey campaign; Australian ad network partnered with a number of publishers to amplify the campaign.
The results from 11,000 voters are in today, with the seminal 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption topping the list. The film, which was initially considered a box office dud upon release, is considered one of the most beloved films ever made, and is now crowned the number one greatest film of all time.
Elsewhere in the Top 10 are cinematic heavyweights such as Titantic, Gone With The Wind, Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump. The latter was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress in the United States National Film Registry in 2011 after being deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
